Parting Shots

We're on the move back to Virginia.
We thought you might enjoy a few pictures from our last days in Florida this year.

From our back window.  We'll miss the sunrises over the field.

One of the baby Sandhill Cranes that paid us a visit almost every day.

And our favorite turtle that made our lot part of his daily trek to who knows where...

Even the squirrel that finally won the battle by stealing one of our sunflowers.

And finally, one of the owls that would swoop down onto the pickleball court to eat bugs as we played late into the night.

Rain, rain and more rain

It's hard to find something to complain about in our lifestyle.  Retired.  Traveling.  Friends.  But the past few days have been so dark and rainy.  And when I say rain, I mean constant heavy rain and wind in excess of 60 mph with lightning, thunder and tornado warnings. There are reports of a couple of tornadoes touching down in the area.  Hurricanes.  Fine.  Tornadoes, not so much.  Too powerful and too random.  And in the midst of all the storms, we had to pack up the RV and take it to Lakeland to have our hydraulic levelers fixed.  It went without a hitch, and we evidently just missed the storm that hit the airport  right next to the building where the repairs were done.  Planes were overturned and a building collapsed trapping 70 people. Too close for comfort.
The good part was that Matt and Uliana flew in to Miami after Matt finished his National Geographic assignment in the Caribbean and they paid us a visit.  It was only for one night, but it was wonderful to see them.  And they brought us good fortune as we had been without power and water all day due to lightning damage in the park, but it was fixed 20 minutes before they arrived.  Whew.
But today we woke up to a beautiful sunrise over the pasture behind our rig.  The past 96 hours have only renewed our appreciation of the good days.
